Queen Emma Preschool
Queen Emma Preschool provides children with a high-quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum in a safe and nurturing environment. Our approach and philosophy are based on the research-proven developmental theory of an upward-moving process of child development. Queen Emma Preschool fosters an environment that aids the development of the whole child through play-based learning. Recognizing that the preschool years are a significant time in a child’s life, we focus on building a strong foundation for learning that includes:
- Fostering attitudes, values, and skills that helps to establish a positive self-concept and joy for learning in our children
- Establishing a growth mindset through exploration, play, and inquiry
- Engaging and enhancing all aspects of their their creative, social-emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual powers
Children must be fully potty trained for parents to accept a space. We accept each child at his or her own level of development and grow and build skills in all areas of development. Consequently, there is a wide range of diversity and abilities in the classroom. As a result, our teachers relate to children as individuals so they may guide and encourage each child’s growth to their greatest capacity.
Our low student-to-teacher ratio means your child gets the attention she or he needs and is a higher standard than required by the State of Hawaiʻi. Queen Emma Preschool is licensed by the Department of Human Services and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and Hawaii Association of Independent Schools and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
