St. Andrew's Priory Merit Scholarship

In celebration of our 155th anniversary in 2022, St. Andrew's Schools announced a new merit scholarship.

Queen Emma's benevolent leadership in establishing The Priory has allowed for generations of Hawaiʻi girls to be part of her legacy. The year 2022 marked the 155th anniversary of the founding of The Priory. In honor of our remarkable founder and as a tribute to her leadership, we announced the St. Andrewʻs Priory Merit Scholarship.

In 1867, the great royal Hawaiian leader, Queen Emma Kaleleonālani, a visionary and transformational thinker, established St. Andrew's Priory, the oldest girls' school in Hawaiʻi. An enduring testament to her towering vision to educate the Hawaiian people, The Priory has become St. Andrew's Schools and grown to include The Prep, a K-6 boys' school, and Queen Emma Preschool (QEP), for boys and girls ages two to five.

The St. Andrew's Priory Merit Scholarship is a half tuition award for 6th, 7th, and 9th grade students for the 2023-24 school year. The scholarship will be awarded consecutive years thereafter, as long as the student remains in good standing in The Priory. Multiple awards will be given in each grade level for the 2023-24 school year, and we reserve the right not to make an award based on the pool of candidates.

Candidates should possess a desire to lead, with demonstrated leadership abilities, in addition to a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 (or elementary equivalent) or higher. The selection committee will take into consideration scholastic achievement, leadership, and extracurricular activities.

This scholarship opportunity is open to all incoming students and current Priory students who meet the criteria outlined below. Demonstrated financial need is not a requirement for this scholarship and there are no income restrictions to apply. Before an award can be distributed, the student must be enrolled for the 2023-24 school year.

Financial aid may be pursued in addition to the merit scholarship.
