A Memory from Lillian Schemadovits-Norris '04

"Regarding how Queen Emma's legacy has impacted my life: I am a daughter of the Priory having attended from grades 1-12. Queen Emma's legacy for me has always been about making strong women in mind, body, and spirit. While a student at the Priory, I felt like I was a part of something bigger and special by participating in long-standing traditions and just being surrounded by the history of the school. However, the long term effects of my time at the Priory and the impact of being a part of Queen Emma's legacy have only become apparent in recent years.

As I've gotten older I've realized how strong of a woman I actually am. I am not afraid to speak my mind and stand strong in my convictions. I am not afraid to stand up against the bullies of the world and be strong for those that need help. I am comfortable with who I am, and I'm not afraid to show it. And even though it's been 16 years since I've left the Priory, there is no doubt in my mind that I would not be as strong as I am today without my 12 years spent there being a part of Queen Emma's legacy. I carry it with me every where I go. It is a part of me, and I hope I have made Queen Emma proud."
