New Partnership with The Social Institute

St. Andrew’s Schools is excited to announce that we have established a partnership with The Social Institute, the world’s first gamified online learning platform that is aligned with CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning), the nationally recognized leader in Social and Emotional Learning. The Social Institute’s #WinAtSocial curriculum empowers students to navigate their social world – social media and technology – to fuel their health, happiness, and future success. Additional to the student curriculum, the #WinAtSocial platform has educational resources for families and educators.
 
The Social Institute’s online platform offers a Parent Playbook that provides parents/guardians with insight into social media, technology, and student experiences; it offers family discussion prompts and informative resources that you can incorporate into family conversations as much or as little as you like. We hope that you will utilize The Social Institute’s Parent Playbook as a tool to continue conversations from school at home, and as a resource to help you deepen your understanding of the social world of your child. 
 
How Your Family Can Participate
  1. Family Huddles: With each lesson provided by The Social Institute, a Family Huddle is also provided. As students experience lessons in their classroom, Family Huddles will be emailed to families as a supplement to the lesson. Further action at home is completely optional.
  2. Register for the Parent Toolkit by using this easy step-by-step guide. St. Andrew’s Schools’ School Code is 118f408CE103B0.
  3. Review the Parent Playbook for an overview of the school partnership and the resources available to your family. 
 
About The Social Institute's #WinAtSocial Program

The Social Institute’s #WinAtSocial Program provides lessons for Grades 4-12 that address student experiences and social-emotional health, incorporating social media and technology use. Lesson topics are developmentally appropriate, ranging from emotional well-being to practical SEL skill development, leadership, and college prep. The program was created in collaboration with student leaders across the country and The Social Institute’s Research Advisory Committee, a group of psychologists and social-emotional learning experts. 
 
Topics Discussed in the #WinAtSocial Program Include:
  • Reflecting our values, character, and interests in our actions online. 
  • Balancing our time and attention on technology, with the people around us. 
  • Surrounding ourselves with positive and credible influences.
  • Using social media as a microphone to create meaningful change. 
  • Finding your own path, no matter the pressure from others.
  • Responding positively to relevant and trending current events.  
 
We are excited to be able to offer this timely program to our Upper School community. The #WinAtSocial lessons will be implemented during Advisory or Period 8 depending on the grade level. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
