On September 18, Hawaii Business magazine held a virtual discussion on education in which Head of School, Ruth R. Fletcher Ph.D. served as a panelist. The event stemmed from a framework created by Hawaiʻi Community Foundation which resulted in six reports that addressed:
- Community & Economy
- Health & Wellness
- Arts & Culture
- Natural Environment
- Government & Civic Engagement
These reports are collectively referred to as the acronym, CHANGE. Each report published in Hawaii Business magazine over the course of 6 issues and was paired with an event. The events were comprised of a panel of experts digging into their respective topic areas, discussing the issues, and answering questions from attendees.
St. Andrew’s Schools was a supporting sponsor of the Education event and accompanying Fletcher on the panel were Jack Wong, CEO, Kamehameha Schools, Susan Yamada, Director, UH Ventures and Co-founder, The ClimbHI Bridge, Stacie Kunihisa, Principal, Kanoelani Elementary School, and Dr. Lynn Babington, President, Chaminade University. Some of the areas that the panel addressed were how to mitigate inequities caused by the pandemic, the role of distance learning moving forward, and the emphasis on career education.
