The decision to transition to a fully co-educational K–12 model is a continuation of that legacy—made not out of urgency, but from a place of strategic clarity and enduring mission.

This transition builds upon Queen Emma’s founding principles: access to quality education, a deep respect for community, and the courage to act boldly when the moment requires it. Her establishment of The Priory was both a preservation of cultural and spiritual values and a bold advancement for girls’
education in her era. In the same spirit, this transition honors the school’s heritage while ensuring it remains relevant, inclusive, and impactful for future generations.

The values of aloha, pono, and mālama remain central to the school’s identity—and they will continue to shape the student experience in a co-educational environment that promotes empathy, equity, and excellence. The educational framework for co-education at St. Andrew’s Schools will blend the strengths of its existing single-gender programs with the opportunities provided by a co-educational environment.

• Incorporate differentiated instruction that addresses diverse learning styles and developmental needs. 

Integrate Collaborative Learning Models: 

• Design curriculum activities that promote teamwork and peer interaction across genders.

Highlight Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): 

• Embed SEL practices into daily instruction to teach empathy, communication, and conflict resolution. 
• Ensure that faculty are trained to address gender dynamics and support an inclusive classroom culture. 

Faculty Development and Support:

• Offer training on co-educational teaching best practices, including managing classroom dynamics and addressing unconscious bias.
